Former Employee Planted a Recording Device in a Poverello Center Restroom
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - A 37-year-old male is currently in custody at the Missoula County Detention Facility. On or between September 23, 2022, and October 7, 2022, and on April 7, 2023, Ty Grimmett allegedly purposely or knowingly surreptitiously recorded a visual image of the sexual or intimate parts of an unidentified person in an employee restroom at the Poverello Center in Missoula, Montana.
Court documents state: “That was used by the victim as an employee of the Poverello or as an agent or guest of the Poverello Center, with a reasonable expectation of privacy to perform intimate bodily functions, without their knowledge. Or in the alternative that with the purpose to commit a surreptitious recording of their sexual or intimate parts, took an act in furtherance of the crime by placing a surreptitious recording device in the employee bathroom facing the toilet.”
According to court documents, Grimmett was an employee of the Poverello Center.
Grimmett is currently being charged with 18 counts of surreptitious visual observation or recordation in a public establishment. A third or subsequent offense is considered a felony. As a result, Grimmett is facing 16 separate felony charges.
On September 28, 2023, this case was filed directly into Missoula District Court, and Grimmett’s bond was set at $100,000.
