Myths and Misnomers About Tourism In Montana
Montana is an outdoor paradise, and because of that, millions of folks travel here every year.
Of course, there are those that call Montana home that aren't real big fans of the tourists, but the truth is, tourists mean big money to the state. Here is a number to chew on, 5.6 billion. That's how much non-residents spent last year. Oh and in case you are curious, that's a 12 percent increase from the previous year according to Google.
The truth? There are many locally owned businesses that depend on those out of state visitors to survive, so while some locals might not like them, we need them to excel as a state.

I realize that there is nothing I'm going to write to change the minds of folks are are anti-tourism, but one of the biggest money makers for Montana is what happens outside. Fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking, all of those activities bring people here to stay, lodge, eat, and spend their money in various ways.
Is Montana overcrowded?
Montana is an outdoor paradise. It's also the 4th biggest state by landmass and has one of the smallest populations in the country.
The concern is that Montana is overcrowded and that is simply not true. In fact according to Business Insider, Montana is ranked between 36th and 40th when it comes to the number of tourists that visit.
That hardly sounds full.
So, I welcome those who come here and visit our beautiful state. I hope you enjoy your stay, I hope you spend your money, and I hope you leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
