The cost of living in Montana is driven by the cost of housing. What about getting a good job that INCLUDED housing? Montana companies desperately need to fill some positions so they're willing to offer free or very low-cost housing options that come along with the gig.

YELLOWSTONE  NATIONAL PARK: Many positions that are advertised in Yellowstone do include "In-park housing provided including Wi-Fi (very limited bandwidth), laundry, and all utilities ($45.74 + tax per two-week pay period)". Granted, the most common employee housing option is a dorm, there ARE several different scenarios depending on your job responsibilities and where you'll be located in Yellowstone. It can be a wonderful experience for a young person looking for friends and adventure.

REGISTERED NURSE (TRAVELING)/MENTAL HEALTH RN: In Lewistown, Montana. This is for a hospital in Lewistown, and is a full-time 13 week contract. According to the job listing "Pay: $45.00 per hour, plus housing fully provided for the assignment." There are also flexible shifts "Day or Night shifts available, 3 Days - 12 hour Shifts".

BARTENDER AND HOUSEKEEPERS AT THE RIDGELINE HOTEL IN GARDINER: This is an hourly, full-time gig at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, Montana. Housing is notoriously tight around there but this company states "Local, low-cost employer housing is available for associates aged 18 and over. Free and/or discounted meals."

Sous Chef/Line Cook at the Rainbow Ranch Lodge in Gallatin Gateway: Just outside of Bozeman, the Rainbow Ranch Lodge is a well known, high-end lodge and restaurant. To be clear, their ad does not state free or discount housing, but it DOES state "the possibility of housing on site" in addition to all the other benefits.
