Not only did Korn recently host their own virtual concert within the online video game AdventureQuest 3D, but band frontman Jonathan Davis slyly attended the in-game performance himself.

That's right. Davis, an avid gamer himself, said he secretly spent time hanging out and playing with fans once the virtual event went live. In AdventureQuest 3D and AQ Worlds, fans got a chance to see the computerized Korn perform a show in the "Battle Concert Arena" while gamers also focused their attention on fighting monsters and scoring loot. See some fan-captured video grabs of the in-game concert below.

"I go to the event all the time," Davis told Kotaku of the band's virtual AQ concert. "I dress myself up as me, I bought all the shit." (That includes Korn-themed weapons, shirts, pets and other sundry items.)

Talk about a boon for the cross-section of Korn and massively multiplayer online role-playing gamers. Davis has vast experience with MMORPGs, even once being well-versed in World of Warcraft.

But perhaps the biggest shock of all is that the Korn frontman was once somewhat a game developer himself. Although it eventually got shelved, in the early 2000s he was working on a fighting title called Pop Scars with game designer American McGee. It was set to feature other rockers such as Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit.

"I had all the biggest pop and rock stars at the time that were down to do it," he said of the game that ultimately never got off the ground. "[I]t was with one of the gaming companies, and they had to pull out because they had to pull entire teams for other games. It just didn’t happen, but I really liked it."

Korn's AdventureQuest event launched Aug. 20 and was available on all types of devices, but if you missed out, the videos show some of the fun. The virtual band play "Freak on a Leash," "You'll Never Find Me" and "Rotting in Vain" during the performance, while characters battles with monsters and other creatures.

In addition, there was a meet-and-greet at the end for players who purchased the paid pack version, where one's character was able to virtually visit backstage and snap a selfie with the members of Korn.
