The war of words between Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and Stone Sour continues -- sort of -- with guitarist Josh Rand of the latter expressing bafflement at Kroeger calling his group "Nickelback Lite."

"I don't understand why ... for him to basically say we're 'Nickelback Lite' is ... I don't know if I can fire back with anything," Rand says, laughing, in an interview with Musik Universe which can be heard below. "He's kind of come up with the ultimate insult, so how do I ... I mean, I don't know what else to say."

Kroeger recently told Metal Covenant, "[Stone Sour are] trying to be Nickelback,” before adding, “They’re okay, but they’re not as good as Nickelback. They sound like ‘Nickelback Lite,'" before taking aim at frontman Corey Taylor's other band, Slipknot, calling them a "gimmick."

"There's no sense in me tearing into [Kroeger]," Rand continues. "It's obvious he'd been drinking the entire time he was doing the interview. How I took it was ... [Kroeger] was talking about how diverse the band is and the interviewer mentioned us, and [Kroeger] kind of snapped [laughs]."

A couple days ago, Corey Taylor also fired back at Kroeger in an interview with Arizona radio station 98 KUPD, exclaiming, "All I know is I’ve been voted ‘Sexiest Dude In Rock’ wearing a mask. You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude In Rock’ twice without one. Stick that up your ass." Taylor also added, "He’s got a face like a foot. Am I wrong? ... So, dude, curl up in bed with your Hello Kitty pillow and shut up."

Meanwhile, Stone Sour just scored their fourth No. 1 Active Rock hit with the track "Song #3" from their forthcoming album Hydrograd, out June 30. Currently, the group is out on the road Korn on a summer North American tour. See the dates here.
