Missoula Brewery Holds ‘Vaccine Fiesta’ on Cinco de Mayo
Remember Cinco de Mayo celebrations of the past? Hitting the bars and drinking with friends - what a forgotten concept over the last year! And Cinco de Mayo always seems like one of those days you don't even need to really understand what it's all about.....you just know that it's some sort of holiday - and if it's a holiday for some, it's reason enough for you to participate in the partying.
Of course we're living in COVID times so it makes total sense that a local Cinco de Mayo celebration this year will include a "vaccine fiesta" that will allow people to get vaccinated on the spot. The Missoula City-County Health Department and Imagine Nation Brewing will be holding the event on Wednesday (5/3) and you'll be able to combine your celebration with your vaccination.
The health department will have their mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic in the parking lot of Imagine Nation from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday. It actually seems like a pretty good pairing - you can start with a drink or two to take the edge off, then roll up your sleeve and get a free Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine shot once the alcohol has numbed your worry of being poked with a needle. Vaccinations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and you must be 18 or older. Participants are expected to use face coverings and practice social distancing.
And something else that's happening on Wednesday is the MMIW National Day of Awareness Candlelight Vigil at the UM Oval. Learn more about the event with Project Beacon and Missoula YWCA HERE.
