This year's holidays seem like they'll be a bit more normal than they were last year and thank goodness for that. Years from now it'll make for quite the story when my younger kids are grown and I pull out their Santa pictures from 2020. After a few glasses of loaded eggnog, I'll tell the tale of why Santa and his little helpers are all wearing masks and being divided by a piece of plexiglass.

It's that time of the year again!

What type of parent are you when it comes to Santa pictures? Do you get your kids all dressed up and get your money's worth by displaying them around the house or turning them into Christmas cards to send to family and friends? Or do you bring them home and they never see the light of day again until you're putting all the Christmas decorations in boxes to go back to storage? It's ok, nobody is judging here.

Santa's Wonderland has returned to Cabela's

Once again, you can experience the magic of Christmas with a free Santa photo at Cabela's this year. The first 4x6 picture is free and additional photo packages are available for purchase. Keep in mind that reservations are required for photos and you can make them up to seven days in advance. You might want to reserve your time while you can because they might fill up fast.

I called Cabela's to get a feel for how pictures were being handled this year and it appears that restrictions have lightened a bit. The "contactless Claus" program from last year with Santa wearing a face shield and being protected by plexiglass is no longer being used. It will remain a contactless experience though with picture takers seated on a bench and Santa positioned behind them.

Along with pictures, Santa's Wonderland will feature free holiday fun, a place to mail letters to the North Pole, a gift registry, and more.

When can you get pictures?

Pictures are available through Christmas Eve and happen at the following times:
Monday - Friday | 5 PM - 8 PM
Saturday | 10 AM - 8 PM
Sunday | 10 AM - 5 PM
