Missoula Community Theater is Bringing ‘Addams Family’ to Town

The Addams Family have been around since they were created as a comic back in 1938. Since then, they have been everywhere from video games to the big screen. Now, it appears the Addams Family are hitting Broadway. With an Addams Family Musical coming to MCT this month.

Who are the Addams Family?

The Addamses are a satirical inversion of the ideal 20th-century American family: an odd wealthy aristocratic clan who delight in the macabre and are seemingly unaware or unconcerned that other people find them bizarre or frightening. Beginning with the 1964 television series, the Addams Family consists of Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, close family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama, their butler Lurch, and Pugsley's pet octopus, Aristotle. The dimly seen Thing (later a disembodied hand) was introduced in 1954, and Gomez's Cousin It and Morticia's pet lion Kitty Kat in 1964.

Just in time for Halloween season, the Missoula Community Theater is bringing the Addams Family Musical to tow for only a few select dates.

October 20th thru the 30th at the MCT

According to the MCT website, the plot of the musical goes

When Wednesday falls in love with a bright and pleasant boy from a bright and pleasant family, she invites them to dinner to meet her most… unusual family, prompting Pugsley to plot his revenge.  The plan goes awry, nearly tearing the two families apart (figuratively).  The result is utter chaos and confusion during a thunderstorm, when hidden family secrets come to light—in the darkness (literally).
