Missoula County Crime Report: 22 Felonies, Six Violent Crimes

The past week kept the Missoula County Attorney’s Office occupied with 22 new felony cases. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says there were a significant number of violent crimes in the mix.

"Six of those I would put in the violent crime or crimes against persons category," said Pabst. "That included two violation of orders of protection, four partner family member/aggravated assault cases involving pretty serious abuse against a partner or family member. We had a hold over assault with a minor case from last week."

The assault with a minor holdover case involved a parent accused of strangling and biting a child. Of course, there were lots of other types of crime as well.

"In the property crimes division there were three thefts and a criminal mischief," Pabst said. "We had three felony drug cases, one opiate and one intent to distribute. There were a whole handful of endangerment crimes including a small handful of felony DUI's."

Pabst says violation of protection cases are particularly troubling as they often coincide or are a precursor to partner or family member assault cases.
