Back in January, we told you about how a team of Missoula firefighters were hard at work training for the return of the Seattle Stairclimb.

What Is the Seattle Stairclimb?

In case you missed that story, let's bring you up to speed: every year, firefighters from all over the world head to Seattle to climb the stairs at the Columbia Center, the second tallest building west of the Mississippi.

They do this to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, helping to raise money to fund blood cancer research and patient services.

And of course, the Seattle Stairclimb is just one of many events that wasn't able to move forward as planned over the last couple of years thanks to COVID. So this year's Stairclimb marks the first time they've been able to have it since 2019.

Missoula's Firefighters Have A Winning History at the Stairclimb

When I wrote the original article, I knew that Missoula's firefighting team had won a few times in the past - what I didn't realize is just how often they came out on top.

Because, according to NBCMontana, Missoula came in first place again this year, and it's actually their 9th win in a row!

In order to do that, they climbed 69 flights of stairs, ultimately raising about $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With all the hundreds of teams participating, the event managed to raise $10,000,000 overall!

Congrats to Missoula's firefighters on retaining their title and helping out a great cause! Can they hold onto it to enter double digits next year?
