The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 14 new criminal complaints this week, which is six less than last week and right around the weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, five of those cases involved interpersonal violence.

“In one case, we charged assault with a weapon,” Pabst said. “In that case, the defendant allegedly assaulted a child in a car and then there was a standoff with firearms and ammunition. He allegedly pointed an AR-15 at the adult victim. He was charged and is currently in custody.”

Pabst said her office also charged one individual with intimidation.

“In that case, the defendant allegedly yelled at four fast-food workers, including a worker who was on her first day and three high school students,” Pabst said. “The defendant said that if he didn’t get a refund on his beverage that he would come back with a gun and shoot them. They were obviously afraid.”

In the endangerment category, they charged two new cases, and both involved pursuits with law enforcement.

“In one, the defendant was allegedly passed out on her steering wheel in traffic at Brooks,” Pabst said. “A pedestrian knocked on her window and she woke up and started driving. A police officer observed this and saw her swerving. She allegedly refused to pull over and there was a 10-year-old in the car. Signs of marijuana and opioid use are being investigated.”

There were two new property crimes as well.

“One involved a stolen Ford F-150 and the other involved forged checks nearing $24,000,” Pabst said. “We charged two new cases involving possession of drugs, both involved methamphetamines. In one, the defendant was being arrested by the Marshalls on a $100,000 warrant. She allegedly had a bag with 1.26 grams of meth in it as well as scales and baggies with residue.”
