Montana Blackfeet Nation Donate Vaccines to Neighbors in Canada
The distribution of COVID 19 vaccines has been going well across much of the US. Each day more and more Americans are getting vaccinated and closer to returning to normal life. As of today over 105 million Americans have been fully vaccinated, with over 246 million doses given. That number growing each and every day.
But, on the other hand, Canada has not been as efficient at getting doses of the vaccine distributed. As of today, only 12 million doses have been distributed in Canada, and just over 1 million Canadians have been fully vaccinated. This has created somewhat of a crisis in Canada. As residents are doing everything they can to get the vaccine and move on with their lives.
Just recently, the generous people of Montana's Blackfeet Nation, found themselves with a surplus of the vaccine. Instead of letting it go to waste, the Blackfeet reached out to their neighbors across the border. Donating nearly 750 doses of vaccine to Canadians willing to make the drive to the border.
According to Yahoo
On April 20 and 21, and April 28 and 29, a mobile drive-through clinic was set up at the U.S.-Canada border, close to the town of Cardston, Alberta. Hundreds of vehicles lined up for hours for a chance to get a first or second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
Those hoping to get the jab lined up for hours in a parade of cars that stretch for nearly three kilometres. Some had driven for hours to get a chance at being vaccinated. As there was more demand than supply, some people had to be turned away.
