Temperatures between 95 and 105 along with dangerous conditions exist through Monday night for Missoula, Butte, Bozeman, Helena, Billings, Great Falls and everywhere in between.

According to the National Weather Service:

  • HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT.
  • WHAT...Record hot temperatures between 95 to 105 at lower elevations today and Monday, with overnight low temperatures only briefly near 60 degrees.
  • WHERE...Portions of central, north central, southwest, and west central Montana.
  • WHEN...From Noon today to Midnight Monday Night.
  • IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

Fire danger has also increased across the entire state. Far western Montana has been in concerning territory for a few days already, and now the rest of the state may soon face Red Flag Warnings as fire danger increases. Some counties are on pace for record high temperatures.

  • FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING.
  • IMPACTS: Low humidity, very hot temperatures, and strong gusty winds will create erratic fire behavior.
  • AFFECTED AREA: South-central and southeast MT, north-central WY, and northwest SD. MT fire weather zones 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, and 133. WY fire weather zones 274 and 284. (See Fire Weather Zone map below for further clarification.)

  • WIND: Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
