Where we live, survival isn’t even an issue. It’s just another weekday. While the rest of the world is sobbing about soggy matches and cans of beans, we’re over here putting up a shelter with one hand and pan-frying trout with the other, most likely in the rain, and without so much as a peep.

So, yeah, it only makes sense that two Montanans are squaring off out in the wild this season on Alone.

No backup. No camera crew. No call-a-friend. Just straight-up skill.

Colton Gilman – Red Lodge, MT

A carpenter by trade, Colton is a lifelong outdoorsman who has spent his entire life pursuing the wild. He was a boy who spent his childhood turning over rocks in streams and hunting with a bow, then became a riverboat deckhand, studied wildlife management, and made his home in Red Lodge.

Colton is bringing his DIY ingenuity, backwoods heritage, and no-nonsense mindset with him to Season 12 of Alone.

Kelsey Loper – Winnett, MT

Kelsey’s from Winnett, where self-reliance isn’t a lifestyle, it’s just the way folks get by. She’s a nurse, a bowhunter, and a self-taught survivalist who builds her own gear and knows how to use it. Storm rolls in? Gear breaks? Something goes sideways? Kelsey is already on it before you can even ask.

Montana Til We Die!

Colton and Kelsey are not out there looking for likes and camera time. They represent the everyday toughness that is baked into this state. Whether it be a cold snap or an extended period of "nope, I am not going outside today," we endure. These two just get to remind the rest of the country how it’s done.

We’re not just watching from home, we’re rooting for our neighbors. Because if anybody’s coming away from that wild with a win, it’s someone from here.
