As somebody who typically doesn't pay much attention to basketball and certainly doesn't go out of my way to watch or listen to NBA or local games, I gotta tell you, our current men's Griz basketball team is on fire right now. The current team has been so much fun to listen to, that I've actually learned the game and the rules and genuinely enjoy listening to them play. Who knew you could fall in love with college basketball in COVID times??

The current roster includes three powerful freshmen: Robby Beasley, Brandon Whitney, and Josh Bannon, who set a school record for most points ever by a freshman team. Which means we are going to have one helluva team again next season!

Last night's (3/11) Big Sky Championship quarterfinals match in Boise was another nail biter, with our boys taking on Weber State. In the 4th quarter, we were up by 16, when Weber State got a second wind and scored 13 points in just 81 seconds. But our Griz rocked it and advanced to the semi-finals, winning 80 to 75. As with Wednesday night's opening game of the Big Sky tourney, when the Griz won 69 to 64 over the Idaho Vandals, this game was a lot of fun to listen to!

Tonight (3/12), the Griz move on to play Eastern Washington, who won over them last month, but, Montana has beaten Eastern Washington in the past two Big Sky tournament championship games, so it promises to be an exciting match up. If our Griz can pull this one off, they advance to the Championship Saturday night. You can tune in to our partner station, 98.3 KGVO on air and on their app, to hear this incredible team in action. Tonight's tip off is at 8 p.m.
