As the first quarter played out, it was looking like the perfect storm for a major upset and letdown after last Saturday's big win.

But the Montana Grizzlies were having none of that, as they shook off the shell shock of a 17-0 deficit in the pouring rain, and went on to crush the Idaho State Bengals 59-20 in Big Sky Conference football action at homecoming in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Poor tackling and two 71-yard plays had the Griz stunned with 14:30 to go in the first half. But from there they methodically took apart Idaho State, finishing on a 59-3 run. After a slow start, Griz quarterback Dalton Sneed showed why he is the best player in the conference to this point with both his running and passing ability. He finished the game going 26-41 for 397 yards and two touchdown passes, and also added 75 yards running the ball and scoring two TDs on the ground as well. The magnificent receiving tandem of Samuel Akem and Samori Toure combined for 18 catches, 323 yards and two touchdowns. And the defensive effort was phenomenal during the final 44 minutes of the game.

The Griz improve to 5-1 and 2-0 in conference play. It's bye week! Get some rest, guys. Can't wait to see you in action again October 19 at Sacramento State.
