Montana Ranks Among Top States with Least Love for Fair Food
When it comes to fair food, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. You got your classics, like the funnel cakes and corn dogs. Which are always good standbys. I always feel like a good fair can never have too many meats on sticks. But then you have your walking tacos, your deep-fried Oreos, your fried cheese curds. Don't even get me started on the Vikings or the Indian tacos.
Some states have food vendors that stretch for miles. Frying everything from corndogs to candy bars. They even have contests where people sculpt using only butter. Yet, some states don't enjoy fair food as much as others.
According to National Today
Food Service Direct, the first food-focused online marketplace, executed a survey in July 2022 with 2,051 adults from all 50 U.S States. To discover how U.S. consumers love state fair food the most, what are their favorite state fair food items, and how it impacts their enjoyment and quality of life.
Montana ranks near the bottom for states that love fair food. I find this strange, as fair food is my favorite part of the fair. I have no problem standing in line for a fried meatball or a "tater pig."
Montana ranks 48th for states that love fair food. Hawaii and Utah claim the bottom 2 spots.
State Fair Food favorites include:
- FRIES
- CORN DOGS
- ROASTED CORN
- FUNNEL CAKE
- COTTON CANDY
- SNOCONES
I feel that Montana could make a name for itself by offering up more meats on sticks. Let's face it, there are just not enough meats on sticks. Sure the corndog and vikings are on sticks. But, why not serve up some buffalo kabobs or chicken skewers?
Fair season is upon us. Let's pray for our waistlines.
