Montana State Fair Drops Popular Dish This Year—Big Foodie Shock
What is the one item you crave every year at the fair? Is it the popular "TATER PIG?" Or how about the FFA Tacos? Maybe you are just a funnel cake person? But, let's be honest.....It's the VIKINGS that we cannot seem to get enough of.
The Sons of Norway booth at the annual Fair is one of the things I look forward to every summer. There is just something about that battered meatball on a stick that just makes my mouth water. I think I can speak for a lot of people that the VIKING is one of the few reasons to visit the fair.
Unfortunately, the Montana State Fair in Great Falls will not be serving this insanely popular dish this year. You heard it... No one will be enjoying a fried meatball this year.
Why is the Viking 86'd from the menu?
According to KRTV in Great Falls
This is due to new regulations requiring an automatic fire suppression system that they were not able to have installed and inspected in time.
The fire suppression system was made a requirement for Montana in May of this year, with the intent to keep fairgoers, staff, and vendors safe.
Due to the new regulations this year, the Viking booth will not be present at the Montana State Fair.
Let's just hope they don't run out of corndogs and fried Oreos at the Fair this summer. I don't know if I would be able to handle a life without my favorite fair foods. Having a Fair without Vikings is like a Christmas without Santa. This "foodie" is devastated.
