Montana Is Officially One Of America’s Biggest UFO Hotspots

Did you know World UFO Day falls on July 2nd? Many people who spot unexplained strange lights in the sky will think they are lights from airliners' jet exhaust trails or shooting stars. But every once in a while, we see something that makes us stop and think, "What the Hell was that?

If you're wearing tinfoil hats and staring at the sky, Montana is an absolute core UFO-watching destination.

According to research, Montana ranks third nationwide in the U.S. for per capita UFO sightings, with 9.6 recorded sightings per 10,000 people, trailing only the states of Vermont and Washington.

Montana is also home to two widely famous local classic UFO legends. First, the "Mariana UFO Footage" captured in Great Falls on August 15th, 1950. It was the first UFO footage recorded in the US. Even the local baseball team changed its name to the Great Falls Voyagers to reference this decades-old legend.

Then you have Redgate, located near Deer Lodge. This place is classified as Montana's "high strangeness" zone. Multiple witnesses at this site have reported seeing unexplained strange lights, humanoid figures, and even other bizarre things like vehicles stalling out for no reason.

Here is the part I love. The study says the absolute BEST TIME for a UFO sighting in Montana is August 20th, around 10:06 p.m. Oddly specific, I know.

That does not mean a mothership is punching in on the clock that night. But if you are a believer, that is a pretty good excuse to sit outside, look up, and keep your phone ready. Because in Montana, the sky is big enough for stars, satellites, and the unexplained!
