Montana Vets, Active Duty Eligible for Free National Park Pass
Growing up surrounded by veterans, I have seen plenty of gratitude from people when they approach a veteran. I have seen the look on my Dad's face when someone says "Thank you for your service." I know that he appreciates the gesture and his eyes always light up a little when someone does approach him for a handshake.
Saying "Thank you" to veterans is the least we can do to show our appreciation for their service to our country.
Now, the National Park Service, as well as other federally governed agencies, are offering all veterans, active duty, and Gold Star families a FREE lifetime pass for all Federally parks and recreation sites. That includes entrance or day-use fees at national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and other federal recreational lands.
According to the National Park Service
The National Park Service in partnership with Operation Live Well would like to thank military personnel and their families for their service and invite them to enjoy their national parks.
The free Military Pass is a way to thank current US military members and their dependents, Gold Star Families, and US military veterans for their support of our country and to encourage them to explore recreational opportunities on their public lands and waters.
The passes provide free access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests.
For many veterans and active duty personnel, simply getting outside can be therapeutic. Take a drive to Glacier National Park or Yellowstone National Park and your entrance fee is waived. Why not claim your FREE "America the Beautiful" pass and be covered on all of your outdoor adventures?
