If you’re a Montanan with a newer Ford in your driveway, you may want to make sure your driveway is clear before backing out. No joke!

Here we go again, another Ford recall, and this one is a whopper. Some vehicles will go into drive when you're trying to reverse. Not great if you’re backing out of a snowy driveway or pulling out of a parking spot at Town Pump.

It's a problem affecting a cross-section of Ford's 2024 and 2025 fleet, including the F-150, Bronco, Mustang, Ranger, Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator.

Turns out, there’s a bug in the valve body of the transmission that can put the vehicle in drive gear, even when the vehicle is in reverse or neutral. Ford states they’ll repair it free of charge, but you must take it to a dealer. So, if your pickup has been a little wonky in the gear shift department, or you don't feel like parking in the dairy aisle after crashing through the front of the grocery store, you might want to get it checked.

Nobody wants recalls. We get it. But if it prevents you from plowing into your neighbor’s fence while backing up, it may be worth the trouble.
