Montana’s Bottom 10: The Dumbest Places to Be in 2024

Do you feel like you are pretty smart? Did Montana's education system benefit you? Is your IQ higher than your shoe size? Can you resist giggling every time someone mentions the word "fart? Do you take more than a second to calculate your age? Chances are you are not one of the dumbest people in the state.

Montana ranks 15th in the nation for smartest states. This means our average IQ is higher than that of much of the country. I guess we can call that a WIN. Montana's average IQ is sitting around 101. So we are not necessarily struggling to do simple math and can read a book without drooling or beating it against our heads. But not every place in Montana is full of rocket scientists and brain surgeons.

There are some corners of the state where the IQ level begins to drop significantly.

According to a study from Roadsnacks, there are 10 towns in Montana that are bringing down our average IQ.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that some places in the Treasure State have a larger percent of their population that never graduated from high school. Some places are just smarter than others, but that says nothing about the character of the people living there.

For this ranking, we only looked at cities with populations greater than 2,000, leaving us 31 cities in Montana to rank.

After gathering all the data on places that had the highest number of high school dropouts and the lowest number of people with higher education, Roadsnacks came up with the results for the top 10 dumbest places in Montana.
