Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx Fires Shot at ‘Backstabbers’ Steel Panther
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has fired a shot at Steel Panther, who joked in a recent interview that if they could bring one musician back from the dead, it’d be Vince Neil. Sixx didn’t take kindly to the joke, calling the band “assholes” and “backstabbers.”
Little Punk People recently spoke with Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr and drummer Stix Zadinia, asking them the usual list of fun and silly questions. When Steel Panther got the “back from the dead” question, Starr responded, “I’d bring back Vince Neil.” Stix replied, “He’s not dead,” to which Starr declared, “I’d bring back the Vince Neil from back in the day, because that guy is dead.”
Nikki Sixx is aware that Steel Panther is a comedic band, but he still didn’t appreciate the jab at Motley Crue’s singer. “The singer in steal panther can go fück himself… wanna be band putting down @thevinceneil?” Sixx tweeted.
After a Crue fan also defended Neil, Nikki Sixx added, “That’s why they are assholes. Backstabbers.”
According to guitarist Satchel, Motley Crue have long hated the Panther, dating back to a 2011 tour. "There are bands that hate our guts… We did a tour a few years ago with Def Leppard and Motley Crue. Def Leppard, they got us on the tour. It was an arena tour in the U.K., and they loved us – they were so nice and so cool. And Motley Crue – they hated us. They wanted to kill us. [Laughs] Every night they wanted to kill us,” he told Meltdown.
"They talked to us like once the whole tour. And Tommy Lee and I, we just butted heads a lot. Because – Tommy Lee… I don't know why he hates us so much. Listen, I extended the olive branch, I wanted to be friends with them. I think maybe Tommy Lee feels like we're poking fun at him personally. But we're just having fun … Someday maybe Motley Crue will be our friends but I think Tommy Lee would love it if one of us got hit by a bus. [Laughs]"
Steel Panther’s new album, Heavy Metal Rules, is now available wherever killer music is sold. Check out their upcoming tour dates here.
