MT Department of Revenue Allowing Liquor to be Delivered
Many of Montana's rules and laws are being temporarily amended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In an attempt to help local businesses and calm some nerves of those stuck at home for an extended period of time, the Montana Department of Revenue has announced that liquor delivery and curb side pick up will be allowed this week. This temporary Directive expires at 11:59 p.m. on March 27, 2020, though it may be extended by a further Directive.
The places subject to this Directive are permitted and encouraged to offer food and beverage using delivery service, window service, walk-up service, drive-through service, or drive-up service, and to use precautions in doing so to mitigate the potential transmission of COVID-19, including social distancing. Customers may order and pay by telephone or online from a retailer or manufacturer licensed to sell alcoholic beverages in the State of Montana. A retailer or manufacturer licensed to sell alcoholic beverages in the state of Montana may deliver for sale the alcoholic beverages for which it is licensed. Delivery must be conducted by the licensee’s employees over the age of 21 and age of the purchaser and recipient must be verified at the time of delivery. The purchased alcohol must be hand-delivered to the purchaser. In offering food or beverage, a place subject to this section may permit up to five members of the public at one time inside for the purpose of picking up their food or beverage orders, so long as those individuals are at least six feet apart from one another while on premises.
Need delivery? The Night Owl Liquor Store, located downtown next to The Golden Rose, is offering daily delivery right to your door from 5 to 9 p.m. You can order by phone at 406-543-0646 and by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Of course you must be at least 21 years old with proof and there is a minimum of $25 per order with a $10 delivery fee. This pandemic is serious business, we really REALLY need to stay home, and this will eliminate another reason for people to go out.
