Multiple Guinness World Records Set in Missoula Last Month
The internet can be a beautiful thing.....sometimes. I was bouncing around from one story to the next today when I saw details about a few Guinness World Records being set in Missoula last month. I'm not sure how I missed hearing about this when it was actually happening but I guess I'm just not tuned in enough to the World Cube Association scene. You guessed it, the WCA is all about the sport of puzzle cubes (think Rubik's Cube.)
Did you hear about this?
A WCA competition, simply called Missoula 2021, was held on the University of Montana campus during the first weekend of November and the event produced three new world records. Even better, all three records were set by the same person. Max Park had quite a weekend and set new marks in 3x3x3 Cube 5.32 (average), 4x4x4 Cube 20.94 (average), and 3x3x3 One-Handed 9.34 (average). That might not make much sense but let's just say he can solve a cube in about the time it takes me to unlock my phone and open up a text message. Pretty incredible! Watch him work his magic in the video below.
He's like the young Tiger Woods of golf
Max's accomplishments while he was in Missoula might have added his name to a few Guinness World Records but that isn't exactly a new accomplishment for him. He now holds records in 11 different categories! After reading some of the comments on YouTube and the World Cubing Association Facebook page it definitely looks like Max is a stud in the cubing world.
Other Montana records
It's pretty crazy how many different categories there are when it comes to Guinness World Records. You can find some pretty crazy things. But you'll also find some neat things like Montana being the home of the largest snowflake ever documented and the largest farm tractor.
