It suddenly looks like it could be another spectacular season of whitefish fishing on Flathead lake!

If you're looking for a low-maintenance fishing trip that doesn't necessarily require journeying all over the lake, where success can be found anchoring not terribly far from shore, then this could the trip for you, family and friends.

Whitefish have been biting all over the lake. This can be phenomenal fishing from late July at least through August. The westside points appear to be the most plentiful at these early stages of the bite.  Our friend Ross Tate (pictured) reported on Saturday morning that "the fish produced on the Delta in 41 feet of water, including one that came in at over six pounds. We caught more than 40 in two hours and were off the water before noon."

Whitefish put up a tremendous fight and it always feels like you've hooked even bigger fish than they are.  A popular lure to use when jigging for whitefish on Flathead Lake is the famous Zimmer Rattle D Zastor, manufactured by a local tackle shop owner in Pablo, Montana.  You can visit Bob Ward's in Missoula for a complete line of these effective lures. They can help you with any  professional advice you may need.

If you need to use a charter service for you fishing-frenzy guests, we'd like to suggest Matt at Mo Fisch Charters on Flathead. He is a great guy and can be reached at 406-755-4414.

Fish on!!!! (We hope - for you!)
