New UM Advising on the Go Program Offered to Students
The Office for Student Success at the University of Montana now offers students a service called Advising on the Go. Executive Director Brian French said the new programs allows students to find answers to their questions about academic advising without an appointment.
"We're just taking services we provide everyday in our other units and we're trying to essentially meet students where they are to be more accessible," French said. "A lot of times students just need a little direction type hints on where to go for help, different campus services and resources that can benefit them in their academic programs or in their social engagement and development on campus."
French said experienced advisers staffing the desk will connect students to campus services, resources, and advisers in academic departments on both the Mountain Campus and Missoula College for more in-depth assistance.
"They just drop by," French said. "We're open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. We're staffing the counter with very experienced academic advisors. Griz Central is sort of our one-stop-shop for student services here at UM. There is a phone number they can call and that's 243-6633."
Advising on the Go is located next to the Registration Counter in Griz Central.
