In late 2021, Nicolas Cage filmed two westerns back-to-back in MontanaThe Old Way and Butcher's Crossing. He was even spotted a few times by locals, and it seems he spent a lot of his time working on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

If you haven't been following the career of Nicolas Cage recently, he's been having something of a resurgence in recent years - he's been gaining critical acclaim for his roles in films like Mandy and Color Out of Space, and seems like a major contender to be nominated for an Oscar this year thanks to his work on Pig.

During the leadup to awards season, The Hollywood Reporter has been known to organize roundtables for people considered to be frontrunners in their respective categories. They just released their actor's roundtable, which includes Simon Rex (of Red Rocket, which also boasts a local connection), Peter Dinklage (Cyrano), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick... Boom), Jonathan Majors (The Harder They Fall), and of course, Nicolas Cage.

Nicolas Cage Recounts His Time in Montana Fighting With A Horse Named Rain Man

Once the roundtable was released, a story that Nicolas Cage told about filming Butcher's Crossing in Montana began to go viral - because he and his horse did not get along on set.

Cage is hilarious when he tells the story, but I think my favorite part is everyone else's reaction to it - and Cage's shock when Jonathan Majors reveals that he's actually ridden Rain Man, too.

I can't wait to check out both Butcher's Crossing and The Old Way, and if you haven't watched Pig yet, make that a priority. It's one of the best movies of the year.
