Oh Ya. This Might Be The Greatest Montana April Fools Prank Ever
April Fools Day is one of those "holidays" that most of us forget about, and that's the point. You don't see the prank coming like the one Distinctly Montana just pulled.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PETTING ZOO
I'll give credit where credit is due. This is just brilliant. As Montanans, we are used to hearing the stories of the tourists in Yellowstone National Park. Every year there are injuries and even deaths from tourists thinking that wild animals like Bison are cute and cuddly. Therefore it's ok to get close and pet them, right? Wrong. Very, very wrong. Just recently USA Today reported about a 34-year-old man from Colorado that was gored to death.
Even with the threat of injury or death, tourists seem unphased. This is where the prank comes in. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the joke "the animals in Yellowstone are super friendly, and it's ok to pet them", so Distinctly Montana just went with it. For April Fools they posted this article claiming that the park has changed its name to "Yellowstone National Petting Zoo".
Now guests can get right next to a massive Bison and even put their children on the beast to make their vacations more memorable - Distinctly Montana (April Fools satire article)
Now of course this was complete satire, and they even make point it out very plainly at the end of the article, but you know that won't detour some of the "less environmentally educated" visitors. Here is where I cover my behind and tell you the same. There is no Petting Zoo located in Yellowstone National Park. You should definitely follow all the safety precautions and please, please do not try to pet the animals.
