In May, Palaye Royale guitarist Sebastian Danzig was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for throwing a cup of coffee at someone who attempted to run over his dog, Mishka.

We caught up with the band at Sonic Temple and discussed the incident, which took place outside of The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. Mishka even sat it on the interview, but didn't have much to add beyond one small bark.

Explaining exactly what happened, Danzig recalled, "My dog had to go to the bathroom. I went and got a coffee. I bought a salad as well and in that moment — the salad was gonna take 10 minutes — I was like, 'I should take my dog out.' I walked across the street and she was gonna walk herself because she's more than capable. I pick her up in the middle of traffic and this guy just speeds up and tries to hit me and I pick up my coffee and I throw it at his car."

"But in Massachusetts, unfortunately, it's assault with a deadly weapon," he continued.

Danzig said he offered to pay for whatever damage was done to the car, but the driver noticed the marquee outside the venue and declined the offer and called the police. The officer who arrived then handcuffed him and placed him in a windowless van with his feet secured to the floor and his neck pressed forward. "It's like I was Hannibal Lecter," Danzig said of the treatment.

Meanwhile, the other members of Palaye Royale were slightly amused by everything, mulling over the idea of leaving their brother in the jail cell for the night. Their mom urged they post the $40 bail and get him out instead.

In light of the incident, Palaye Royale took advantage of the situation, electing to print up T-shirts bearing a group mugshot photo. Purchase those here.

As the interview progressed, we also spoke about the band's since-concluded "The Funeral" tour. Since their lives have changed from being homeless and living in a van to two albums into their career, they feel its time for a rebirth of sorts as they plot their next chapter as a band, mostly saying goodbye to their old material.
