Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament Helps Build New Montana Skate Park
If you're hanging around Lincoln in the near future and you notice construction on a brand new skate park in town, you'll have Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament to thank for that.
The legendary rocker is working with a group of Lincoln residents to bring a skate park to the area. Phil Reed, an English teacher at Lincoln High School, has been working with a group of students to do some fundraising for the park. According to him, they've raised about 7 or 8 thousand dollars, with a goal to get somewhere between $25,000 to $50,000. Jeff Ament has pledged to match what they raise, up to $100,000.
Ament has loved skating since he was a kid growing up in Big Sandy, and at one point actually had the biggest ramp in northeastern Montana. He's got a long list of Montana towns he wants to bring more skating to, including "a proper bowl in Billings." Ament loves rural Montana and wants to improve it any way he can, and this seems like a really cool idea.
