Raccoons Showing ‘Zombie Like’ Behavior
In all the scenarios that have been played out regarding a Zombie Apocalypse, the most believable is an outbreak of a neurological disease, similar to rabies. What is the first critter that comes to mind when you think of "rabies?" Yup, raccoons (or TRASH PANDAS.) And it looks like science fiction may soon be reality.
Police in Ohio are investigating reports of raccoons portraying "zombie like" behavior.
According to CBS News
Photographer Robert Coggeshall said he was playing with his dogs outside his home last week when a raccoon approached them. He put the dogs back in the house and said the raccoon followed them to the door.
"He would stand up on his hind legs, which I've never seen a raccoon do before, and he would show his teeth and then he would fall over backward and go into almost a comatose condition," Coggeshall said
Don't barricade yourself in your house just yet. 14 raccoons in the area were euthanized. But, know that something like rabies or distemper can cause this reaction to animals, imagine if a human contracted it.
