Ravalli County Commissioner J.R. Iman said goodbye to the commissioners office Wednesday at an open house in the County Administration Center in Hamilton. Iman lost a re-election bid to the current Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman earlier this year.

Iman, who served on the five-member board for 8 years, said that there were successes and some unfinished work during his term. He mentioned improvements in the county budget, work on veterans issues, the 911 call center and the county road department. However, he’s disappointed with continuing issues at the Ravalli County Airport in Hamilton.

“We’ve had obligations and expectations (about airport improvements) since 1978. I’ve been at it for eight years and I didn’t get it done either.”

Iten told KLYQ News that the five commissioners have worked well together. “On an overall basis, our fiscal situation has gotten measurably better … Everybody’s been a part of that … it’s not just me – you’re not here by yourself.”

The new commissioner, Chris Hoffman, will be sworn in with other county officials Friday, December 30, at 10 a.m.
