Red Hot Chili Peppers to Play Free Concert in Cleveland
Although you wouldn’t necessarily guess their politics by such songs as ‘Suck My Kiss’ and ‘Californication,’ the Red Hot Chili Peppers are big supporters of President Barack Obama. This Sunday (April 15). they will be donating their time to put on a free concert for campaign volunteers at the Cleveland House of Blues, the Plain-Dealer reported Monday (April 9).
According to a campaign official, this concert marks the first performance in support of President Obama in the 2012 electoral season.
In order to get tickets, fans must do phone work in Northeast Ohio for the Obama campaign at some point this week. Obama’s website has set up a special “Rock for Barack” page for people to RSVP for the shift of their choosing. However, tickets are limited for the 1,200-capacity club.
The band will be in Cleveland this weekend because they are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which will be held at the Public Auditorium on Saturday night. Other inductees include the Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses, the Small Faces / Faces, Donovan and the Miracles. Comedian Chris Rock will give the induction speech.
Although the show’s starting time has not yet been announced, the House of Blues will open its doors at 11:45AM on Sunday morning.
