The Red Hot Chili Peppers will debut “Dark Necessities,” the first single off their forthcoming full-length, this coming Thursday (May 5), according to the band’s Twitter. The new track marks the first official single the group have released in the past five years.

Details remain hazy regarding the upcoming LP, however Danger Mouse has reportedly garnered production credits on the album, as well as Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, who is reportedly mixing. According to Radio.com, sources close to the band indicated more information about the future full-length will be revealed on Thursday, in conjunction with the single’s debut.

The new album follows 2011's I’m With You and will be the first RHCP album since 1989's Mother's Milk to not be produced by Rick Rubin.

Although a release date hasn't been revealed, the band recently announced their summer tour dates including a headlining appearance at this year's Lollapalooza.
