We’ve got another legendary artist for a fresh episode of ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’. Run-D.M.C. icon and crossover pioneer Darryl McDaniels (DMC) sat down with us to prove and disprove what’s written about him on Wikipedia.

Turns out there’s plenty of fiction about DMC on Wikipedia. We started off right away with a contradiction about Darryl’s childhood. Wikipedia says on different pages that DMC either bought his first turntable and mixer himself or that they were given to him as a gift from his brother. Turns out both entries are incorrect! DMC tells the true story in this exclusive video.

One of our favorite pieces of this segment is McDaniels clearing up the report that Run-D.M.C.’s Raising Hell tour was marred by violence between rival gang members at multiple gigs. Actually, it was only a single show that erupted into fighting, but as DMC describes, the gang war that occurred at a California venue was pure insanity.

DMC has also been very open about his struggles with alcoholism and depression in the past. While at one of his lowest points, a single song the hip hop star heard in a taxi changed his life, forcing him to re-evaluate his career and existence. He actually listened to the pop artist every day for an entire year to remind himself that beauty is worth living for. Who helped save DMC’s life? Find out in this new episode!
