In past years yellow ribbons were used to commemorate soldiers away at war and could be seen on almost every street. They were tied to trees, fences, mailboxes and even cars. However, today that yellow ribbon has a new meaning. Yes, thanks to The Yellow Dog Project, you can now see yellow ribbons tied to dog leashes all across the United States.

The Yellow Dog Project is a way for dog owners to let other people know that they do not want you, your child or your dog to approach their dog. There are many reasons why a dog owner would not want someone to approach their dog, such as health issue, dog in training, being rehabilitated, or their dog could just be scared or reactive around other dogs.

As a mother, I have always taught my children to never approach a strange dog. As a dog owner, I keep my dogs on a tight leash when around strange dogs and people, and only let them run free when we are in the woods.

The Yellow Dog Project could help save children from dog bites and also decrease the number of dog fights. This is great for both dog owners and people who don’t own dogs. It keeps people and pets safer.

This is a new concept to me, as I hadn’t heard of The Yellow Dog Project until today. I think it is something everyone could benefit from, so please help them spread the word.
