As Western Montanans take to the open road for one last summer trip, it’s a safe bet the ultimate destination is Silverwood Theme Park. It’s the nearest amusement park we’ve got, so most of us have ridden their rides at least once. But last week, one of those rides decided to flip the script... Pun intended!

Spin Cycle Stuck Upside Down

Spin Cycle at Silverwood grabbed headlines after a TikTok video showed it stalling upside down, leaving riders suspended high above the ground. The viral clip suggested the stall lasted 15–30 seconds, although park officials admitted that in rare cases, it can stretch to two or three minutes. No one was injured, but those few minutes had to feel like forever.

Riders Were Shaken

Roughly two dozen people were on board, and when the ride finally righted itself, they looked both relieved and rattled. The video racked up nearly 2,500 comments, with plenty of people swearing they’d never ride it again. Meanwhile, others bragged about treating it like a badge of honor. Either way, the internet ate it up.

A Montana Memory

The last time I trekked to Silverwood, it was for one of those old wooden roller coasters. You know the Timber of Terror? The ride where you can’t quite shake the thought that one loose board could send you flying into the Idaho woods. That’s part of the thrill. A few creaks and groans add character. But getting stuck upside down on Spin Cycle? That’s pushing “extra fun” a little too far.

Safety First… Mostly

According to Silverwood, it wasn’t a mechanical failure but a perfect balance of rider weight that caused the stall. The park has promised adjustments so future riders won’t get that surprise pause in the sky. Still, with TikTok views piling up, Spin Cycle has locked in its reputation as the scariest seat in the Northwest.
