Slipknot Will Not Be Playing 2017 Knotfest Shows
Though Ozzfest Meets Knotfest and Knotfest Mexico lineup info is expected to be revealed soon, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor has revealed that the titular band will not be on this year's festival bills.
Speaking with Billboard, Taylor confirmed that his other group, Stone Sour, will play at both festivals. Those who've followed Taylor's balancing act are aware that it's rare that the two bands overlap. Stone Sour just released their new album Hydrograd on Friday (June 30) and have a bunch of touring ahead of them. Meanwhile, Slipknot have been enjoying a break after a full album and touring cycle behind .5: The Gray Chapter.
Taylor told Billboard, "I think in a lot of ways your festival has to live past you, or it’s not gonna live at all. If it has to live and breathe on your presence, then it’s not a festival, and it’s not for anybody else but you. And for us, it’s always been more about the art and the music and everybody… That’s why we put so much work into it to begin with, is to really make sure that it was stable and it was strong and the foundation was there."
Details on the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest will be announced on July 10. Meanwhile, an Oct. 28 date has been scheduled for Knotfest Mexico, with the show taking place at the Foro Pegaso in Toluca, Mexico. However, acts for the festival have not been announced.
