The high speed chase on Sunday that ended in front of St. Francis Xavier Church with three individuals in custody not only wrecked an allegedly stolen truck, but also damaged several law enforcement and personal vehicles used to stop it.

Missoula Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett said the stolen GMC pickup traveled at speeds of over 100 miles per hour in some places while driving on damaged tires or even bare rims.

"From our agency alone we had four vehicles damaged," Bassett said. "Everything from the whole front end to cosmetic damage. We don't have a firm number on how much the damage will cost, or how long they will take to be fixed. We have some rotation vehicles that deputies can use on patrol until we can get the other vehicles back in commission."

Travis Welsh with the Missoula Police Department said there were two city patrol cars involved that sustained cosmetic damage during the incident.

During the pursuit, the individuals accused of stealing the 2014 GMC pickup truck, Rodger Gillespie and Jacob Seibert, drove directly toward sheriff's deputies and Montana Highway Patrol troopers attempting to place stop sticks on the road, forcing them to evade the truck that narrowly missed striking them.

"Up on Highway 200 they did end up running a vehicle off the road near mile market 3.75 as they tried to pass on the right hand side," she said. "That vehicle had to cut across westbound traffic. We're asking anyone whose vehicles were damaged during this chase to come forward so we can take a statement from them. Thankfully, no on was injured in the pursuit."

The two individuals, Gillespie and Seibert, appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Tuesday charged with numerous felonies.
