Mastodon have made their first comments following the death of former guitarist Brent Hinds.

Hinds helped make some of the most acclaimed metal albums of the 21st century.

Mastodon's Brann Dailor has seemingly taken a subtle jab on social media directed at Brent Hinds' recent comments about the band.

Brent Hinds has lashed out against his former bandmates in a post celebrating Mastodon's 'Once More 'Round the Sun' on social media.

Initially the System of a Down bassist was accused of inflicting the physical injury to Hinds after a 2007 awards ceremony.

Brent Hinds has played his first post-Mastodon show and has another coming up with three bands that he's a part of.

"Obviously, you gotta be somebody who we all get along with and can stand the true test of time."

"It's amazing that we made it 25 years with the four of us," he said.

After Brent Hinds recent exit, Mastodon continued with YouTube favorite Ben Eller stepping in to help them complete their show at Tool's festival.

At Tool's Live in the Sand Festival, Mastodon debuted their new lineup with Brent Hinds' fill-in. See fan-filmed video and the 17-song setlist.

"We are still very inspired and excited to show up for fans in this next chapter of Mastodon," the band said in a statement.

Mastodon and Disturbed toured together on the 2008 Mayhem Festival.
