Team Up Montana Activities for Saturday’s ‘Pink’ Grizzly Football Game
Saturday will find all of Missoula 'in the pink', with the 8th annual Team Up Montana event at Washington Grizzly Stadium.
Providence Montana Foundation Development Director Molly Adamson said the activities will get underway at 11 on Saturday morning.
"Our Team Up Montana tailgate will get underway at 11 o'clock right behind Washington Grizzly Stadium, and then following that we'll have our survivor parade at 12:30. They'll march from the Prescott House down to the tailgate over 100 people strong. Then. we'll have our special on-field ceremony where once again we're honoring those survivors and they'll be on the field making an awesome human ribbon."
Adamson said the partnership between Providence Montana and the university began eight years ago.
"In 2008, we decided we wanted to do something big that would support our cancer patients right here in Missoula and in the surrounding communities, so Team Up Montana was created to help us get the awareness out to let people know that the foundation is here to support those cancer patients," she said. "It's grown into an awesome iconic event and it's all about pink, of course. We really take advantage of breast cancer awareness month to spread the word about the support that we're able to provide to cancer patients throughout western Montana."
Adamson said 100 percent of the funds raised through Team Up Montana go to help cancer patients and their families.
"We help cancer patients meet their basic needs," she said. "We pay mortgages, we provide grocery cards, we provide gas cards so that people can travel to and from treatment. Our purpose is to support people battling cancer as soon as we possibly can to get those funds to them when they need it the most."
This year's pink game is Saturday, as the Mississippi State Delta Devils enter Washington Grizzly Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
Don't forget to wear pink!
