The Tim Montana and Zach Top Debate I Didn’t Expect to Have

Just the other day, our pal Tim Montana texted me. It wasn't about concert news or new songs. He just asked me, "Am I crazy?" Then he recommended I listen to his song "Shut Me Out" from his 2023 rock album Savage. Followed immediately by Zach Top's 2025 song "South of Sanity." I did, and was surprised by what I heard.

Well, now that I dragged you into this... Hear me out!

Before anyone misinterprets things, let me clarify. Zach Top did not copy riffs from Tim Montana. I actually asked Tim if it was okay to turn our conversation into a blog, and he said yes. Tim wasn't finger-pointing either. He just wanted to hear that he was the only one who heard something

So I sat down and listened to both songs. Listened again. Listened yet again. Around the fourth time through, I started wondering if I was really hearing the same song or if my brain was fried.

Listen back to Tim Montana's song "Shut Me Out" and Zach Top's "South of Sanity" one right after the other. Then come back and tell me if I hear things or if you hear similarities too. I really want to know where everyone stands on this.
