The Weigel Fire started Tuesday, August 11, about 24 miles Northeast of Libby.

"The Weigel Fire is currently approximately 120 acres," Public Information Officer Wyatt Frampton said. "It was lightning caused. We have ordered a Type II Incident Management Team to assume command of the fire and the transition period will happen over the course of this afternoon and tomorrow."

The Type II Incident Management Team was ordered due to large growth on Wednesday, August 12, and dry fuels.

"As I said, the fire was lightning caused," Frampton said. "It's in a remote area. In the area, the fuel type is very dry this time of year and so given the projected fire behavior and winds the decision was made to order and Incident Management Team to help with the suppression."

There are currently no structures threatened and no injuries.
