Update on Students Involved in Wednesday’s Highway 93 Crash
Yesterday (February 27th) afternoon we were getting reports that school children were involved in an accident on Highway 93, blocking the road north of St. Ignatius. Turns out those children were in the school van, on their way home from the Nk̓ʷusm Salish Language School in Arlee. The school had been closed on Tuesday due to unsafe travel conditions and reopened for school on Wednesday.
Yesterday's accident occurred when a dump truck travelling south slid into the northbound lane striking an SUV at mile marker 39. Both vehicles then collided with the school's 15 person passenger van, which was carrying 8 students. Nine people went to the hospital and this morning Nk̓ʷusm is reporting that the kids are OK, thank goodness.
