Watch Korn’s Jonathan Davis Cover Neil Diamond at Solo Tour Launch
Jonathan Davis kicked off his solo tour this past Friday night (Apr. 6) in Portland, Ore. at the Crystal Ballroom, and covered Neil Diamond's 1980 chestnut "Love on the Rocks" during the set. Video can be viewed above of the Korn frontman taking on the track, which he first did for the soundtrack to the 2003 film Wonderland, the Val Kilmer vehicle about the gruesome 1981 murders which took place in the Laurel Canyon area of California.
Davis recently revealed May 25 as the release date for his solo album Black Labyrinth, which will be released by Sumerian Records. Pre-orders for physical editions of the album are available now at Davis' website as well as through the record label. The LP was previewed earlier this year with the lead single "What It Is."
Reportedly inspired by the Ganzfield Experiment and the out of body experiences that often come with it, Davis focused the music on the new album on themes of religion, consumerism and apathy. "There's a level of enlightenment I want to achieve," he said. "With all of the bullshit going, everyone is stuck on their fucking cell phones. This takes us way out of that. No matter how hard you try to fight bad things in your life, life will be what it is. It's up to you to accept that, combat it, and move forward, or it's up to you to be in denial. Then, it becomes a thorn in your side until you finally deal with it. This is it. Just deal with it."
The tour continues tonight (April 9) in Spokane, Wash. at the Knitting Factory and runs through late May when it winds up in Camden, N.J. The full accounting of dates can be found here.
