U of M students, welcome to Missoula. You picked a kick ass town to party in for the next 4 years of your life, but you already knew that, that's why you're here. I'm sure you've explored the town a bit and you pretty much get the gist of what goes on around here, but what many transplants do not get, are the people. Missoulians are a unique breed, we're freakish really. So, as you begin your new adventure, here are the Top 5 things you should know about Missoulians.

We Can Party/We Love Our Grizzlies

Everybody likes to party, that ain't sayin' much, the difference is we CAN party. You'll never out drink a Montanan, I'm sorry, you may disagree, but I speak the truth. Especially the girls. Montana girls love PBR and will drink your weak ass under the table every time. And we LOVE our Griz. We live for football season. The Griz are what bonds us, ALL of us, professionals, high school students, stoners, cowboys, rockers, kids, grandmas...we all love Griz football. Ok, maybe not the hippies...and seein' as you live on campus, you know we got plenty of those.

We Are Friendly/Happy/Helpful

I don't know if it's our nature because we're so goddamn happy to live in such an awesome town or if it's something in our water, but we're nice. Even us disgruntled black t-shirt wearing wise asses. Sure we come off as mean, but we'd give you the black t-shirt off our backs without hesitation. A few months ago I met a dude who had just moved here from California and he goes "there's just one thing I don't get...why does everybody keep SMILING at me?".

We're Creative

Everybody here is in to some form of art. Music, dance, painting, sculpting, graffiti...most of us have a passion for something, and most of us are awesome at what we do. And we all support each other on our creative endeavors. Our newschick Shande comes to work and tells us she's playing the didgeridoo dressed in her robot ninja wear downtown tonight....and we all show up to support her. That's how we roll.

We Rock

Live music, we la la la la LOVE it. Whether it's Universal Choke Sign, Cold Hard Cash or Shane Clouse & Stompin' Ground...we love us some live music. Especially outdoors. Make sure you get down to any event as Caras Park. Doesn't even matter what's going on or what the purpose of the event is, as long as there's a band on stage and beer being served, we're there. Oh! And getcher ass to The Wilma for a show too, any show, it's amazing.

We're Outdoorsy

Skateboarding, huntin', boating, snowboarding, swimming in the river, folfing, snowmobiling, camping, skiing, goin' to a keggar...yup, we do all of it. Missoulians hate being indoors, we like to get dirty and don't let us catch you throwing shit in the river, we love our outdoors. You don't have to be a hippie to keep it green.
