Holy smokes, Montana! You're really bringin' it for 'Missoula Gives' this year!

Missoula Gives and Bitterroot Gives are Western Montana's "Giving Tuesday" organizations working toward the worldwide goal of "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world." #GivingTuesday is typically held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, but like a lot of things during the pandemic, the movement has been extended this year and began last Tuesday and runs through Tuesday, December 1st.

As of Monday (November 30) morning, 3,447 Missoulians and the Bitterrooters have donated $811,294 to 138 local non-profits!! We're talking about organizations that you definitely know and love, like the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center, the Poverello Center, Youth Homes, the Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium, and the Boys & Girls Club. I'm personally excited to see folks contributing to CASA of Missoula, Planned Parenthood, Watson Children's Shelter, Climate Smart, and The Roxy. CASA is my jam, if you have the time and the heart to speak up for abused & displaced children in court, I highly encourage you to volunteer, learn more here.

With tomorrow, December 1st, officially being #GivingTuesday, I'm confident that Western Montana will well exceed one million dollars in donations. To donate to your favorite cause, just visit their social media or website, and here's the link to see the Leaderboard of which organizations have raised the most, and which could still use some help. #GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Kind of a bright light bringing us together in a dark year, thank you for giving and supporting your communities!
