White Zombie’s ‘More Human Than Human’ Gets Sock Puppet Parody
It's been quite some time since we last reported on the unbelievably clever sock puppet parodies. With sock and laundry themes dominating the lyrical makeovers from some of rock and metal's most timeless songs, the popular YouTube series has returned with a Halloween themed video for a unique take on White Zombie's "More Human Than Human."
The video opens up with familiar guitar lick, but things quickly deviate from the original by the time the vocals enter the picture. The sock explains being dirty, getting tossed into the laundry pile and injected with the "formulae" before a healthy spin cycle in the wash. In "More Humid Than Humid," the sock goes on to detail being stricken with mildew and cautions not to deoderize and "See the motherfolding mold and fungus rise."
As for the visuals, they're once again expertly crafted. One of the sock guitarists is outfitted with a pumpkin head, playing a pumpkin-shaped guitar with the elongated stem acting as the neck and a leaf at the end as a headstock. The rest of the cast features a mummy bassist, werewolf drummer and a relatively simple dreadlocked singer acting as Rob Zombie.
Previous sock puppet parodies include turning Slayer's "Raining Blood" into "Raining Bleach," Slipknot's "Wait and Bleed" into "Wait and Bleach," Drowning Pool's "Bodies" into "Laundry" and more.
Earlier this year, White Zombie released the incredibly comprehensive box set, It Came From N.Y.C. and our unboxing video of the set can be viewed here. Rob Zombie's band also performed White Zombie's Astro-Creep: 2000 in its entirety at both editions of the 2016 Riot Fest.
