If you're like me, your dogs truly are family members, and given the choice you would take them everywhere you go. Unfortunately, my dogs can't come to work with me for my whole shift and they really wouldn't want to be in an office setting anyway, but if I could take them to dinner when Savannah and I go out it would be a fun option to have.

I found a new website called BringFido.com and it's all about identifying businesses in your area that are dog friendly and actually welcome them in their establishments.

One issue: I know Missoula has an ordinance that states dogs are prohibited from a public area where food is being consumed or served. This includes patios and even outdoor events. So I'm not really sure how well this information holds up to scrutiny. Is the ordinance just unenforced? Or is BringFido behind on the times?

Here is the list of Missoula restaurants that seem to be dog friendly:

  • Iron Horse Brew Pub
  • Black Coffee Roasting Company
  • Mackenzie River Pizza Company
  • Paradise Falls
  • Taco Time
  • Biga Pizza
  • The Empanada Joint
  • Noodles & Company
  • Cold Stone Creamery
  • Fuddruckers
  • Tarantino's Pizza
  • Market on Front
  • Staggering Ox
  • Baskin Robbins
  • Noodle Express
  • Hoagieville
  • Five Guys
  • Taco Del Sol
  • Great Harvest Bread
  • Sweet Peaks Ice Cream
  • Dairy Cream
  • Caffe Firenze (Florence, MT)
  • Dairy Queen (Lolo, MT)
  • Lolo Peak Brewing Company (Lolo, MT)

If you know of any other places let us know so we can add to the list. I just added the Lolo Peak Brewing Company to the list because I know in Summer months dogs are welcome to be outside on their grass as the dog owners enjoy some food and beverages. Also, if you have any insight into the actual law is in Missoula on bringing dogs to restaurants let me know because I would love to take Koda and Gypsy with me to get a big ol' plate of nachos after work on a Friday afternoon!
